The Community Archaeologists at MOLA lead community engagement projects and support our clients’ community engagement initiatives. The award-winning team manages the long-running Thames Discovery Programme and CITiZAN (Coastal and Intertidal Zone Archaeological Network), facilitate community digs and host events, including walks, talks, hands-on workshop and conferences.
CITiZAN Archaeologist for Outreach (York)
Megan is the CITiZAN Archaeologist for Outreach in the Northern Team, based in York at the Council for British Archaeology offices, working on the North-East and North-West coasts. She liaises with communities and local societies, helping to establish archaeological outreach events. Prior to joining the CITiZAN team, Megan worked as one of the Council for British Archaeology’s Community Archaeology Training Placements, between 2013 and 2014. During her placement she worked extensively with schools and adults with disabilities in West Yorkshire. She is also a founding member of the Leeds Young Archaeologists’ Club and remains a Branch Leader.
Megan has worked for several different units as a Field Archaeologists in various locations across the UK between 2011 and 2014. Most recently, she worked for Archaeological Services WYAS, where she completed her bursary, and subsequently stayed on as the Community Archaeologist. Megan has a BA in Archaeology from the University of Bradford. She has a passion for community archaeology, believing archaeology should be inclusive rather than exclusive and has participated and led numerous community archaeology projects.
