Lecture at Colchester Castle 'Tea + Torcs: Dressed in Their Best?'
Colchester Castle, Colchester CO1 1TJ
On Saturday 8th February, MOLA Senior Finds Specialist, Lyn Blackmore will be giving a guest lecture at Colchester Castle, 'Dressed in their best? A look at dress in Anglo-Saxon burial'. Lyn’s finds knowledge encompasses all periods from the prehistoric to post-medieval, and particular specialism is the Saxon period (AD 400-900).
Lyn's lecture is part of the Tea + Torcs series by Colchester & Ipswich Museums, inviting experts to talk on subjects around the 'Adorn: Jewellery, The Human Story' exhibition. From the oldest forms of adornment to the world of body art, enjoy hot drinks and biscuits while you soak up the wonder of gold, beauty and how even the smallest items we wear – and why we wear them – have the most powerful stories.
Entry to the Castle is from 2pm.
Booking is required for the lecture. Book in person at Colchester Natural History Museum, or call 01206 282941 to book your place over the phone.
