London History Day: Rivers of London Walk
Stairs next to the Banker Pub, Cousin Lane, EC4R 3XJ
Price: £10.30 (FREE for over 75s)
Join the Thames Discovery Programme this London History Day to explore the archaeology of the Thames and Walbrook rivers.
The walk begins on the foreshore near Cannon Street in the City of London to explore the fascinating archaeology on the Thames. It will then trace the path of the Walbrook river through the city streets to London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE, where a Roman temple preserved on the banks of the Walbrook and excavated by MOLA has been faithfully reconstructed. Finds from the site were especially rich thanks to water from the Walbrook, and many are on display in the SPACE.
This walk for adults will take place on the foreshore and sturdy walking boots or wellingtons are advised. Please note that the foreshore surface can be very uneven. In case of inclement weather, the walk may be postponed or cancelled. Do contact TDP if you have any questions about the event.
The group will assemble on the stairs next to the Banker Pub on Cousin Lane. Advanced booking is essential and can be done via Eventbrite.
