Postponed: Thames Discovery Programme: Rotherhithe Foreshore guided walk

Hanover River Stairs, opposite Isambard Place, Rotherhithe, SE16 7DA

At MOLA we take the health and welfare of our staff, volunteers and the wider community very seriously and have therefore taken the decision to postpone or cancel all public events for the next four weeks in order to help safeguard against the spread of COVID-19. This means we will not be running any events – indoor or outdoor – until at least 14 April 2020.

In line with UK government guidance, we feel this is the responsible thing to do and is an important precautionary measure to help keep people safe. We will be contacting everyone who has previously signed up to attend one of our events to advise them of our decision.

We will continue to review the situation and look forward to resuming our engagement events programme when it is safe to do so. If you have any queries or concerns in the meantime, then please contact Magnus Copps 572848

Time: 11.30-13.00

Price: £10

Join our Thames Discovery Programme team for a guided walk to discover the rich maritime heritage of the south bank of the Thames, and find out about forgotten post-medieval ship breaking industry in Rotherhithe. This walk will give you a chance to explore the archaeological remains on the foreshore with archaeologists from the Thames Discovery Programme, and see our volunteer fieldwork in action.

The walk will begin at 11:30am, meet at Hanover River Stairs, opposite Isambard Place, Rotherhithe, SE16 7DA

Our guided foreshore walks help support our work to monitor and record the vulnerable archaeology on the Thames foreshore.

To book your ticket and find out more, please visit the Thames Discovery Programme website.

Places are limited so booking is essential! The foreshore surface can be uneven and muddy – please wear sturdy footwear; boots or wellies are recommended! In case of inclement weather, the walks may be postponed or cancelled.
