As the only British archaeological practice to be awarded Independent Research Organisation (IRO) status, our research and its impacts are recognised worldwide. For over 50 years, we have paved the way for countless education, collaboration and participation opportunities.

Our areas of research are wide-ranging, from citizen-led science programmes to pioneering new forms of artefact analysis. This work is underpinned by our thematic framework:

  • Our Discoveries - new knowledge created through our archaeological work, largely undertaken with major UK development and construction schemes
  • Citizen Science - data, research and participation opportunities offered through our citizen science projects and those in the wider sector
  • Archaeology and the Contemporary - exploring the effectiveness and value of an archaeological approach to the contemporary world
