Time Truck appeal
The Time Truck is a flexible mobile-classroom and event space which is deployed into communities and schools to host community events, exhibitions, education sessions and volunteer work. These activities are designed to encourage people to be curious about their shared local heritage and to unlock the educational power of archaeology.
‘This is a compelling project that will enable MOLA to take its award-winning community engagement activities to hard-to-reach communities across London’ Munira Mirza, former Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture
The Time Truck outreach programme includes:
- Archaeology schools sessions for Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Southwark, Hackney, and Tower Hamlets, where pupils excavate genuine archaeological material from specially prepared ‘dig boxes’
- Community engagement events around our archaeological sites, which will engage thousands of members of the public with our archaeological research and discoveries
- Recruiting and working with new volunteers alongside our existing active volunteer community
We are actively seeking support from individuals, charitable trusts, and corporations, to continue the above programme into 2018 and beyond, and to commission further Time Trucks to expand the reach of our activities both in London and further afield.
