Thames Discovery Programme is welcoming budding archaeologists aged 8-18 to sites across London to learn archaeological techniques and skills from foreshore experts.

For sessions seven, eight and nine you’ll return to the foreshore at Custom House to develop the work you began there. This is a great opportunity to go back and observe changes on the foreshore that have occurred since your last visit and develop your key skills. It will be a chance to continue to develop the key skills that have been taught. There will also be chance to visit the FROG as they get to work on the foreshore at Cannon Street.

As this session is outdoors, you will need to wear comfortable but suitable clothes and waterproof footwear as the foreshore can sometimes be uneven and muddy and often cold.

You will also have the opportunity to complete the CIfA accredited Archaeology Skills Passport

Parents are welcome to come along to the session should they wish. The members of the Thames Discovery Programme running this event have current DBS checks and are first-aid trained.

We’re delighted to be able to offer this series of events free of charge with thanks to support from Tideway.

If you're interested in joining, email Josh Frost, Senior Community Archaeologist on jfrost@mola.org.uk to book your free place.
