The Thames Discovery Programme at Custom House (c)Thames Discovery Programme

Customising London: Custom House and the Port of London

08.07.2016
National Maritime Museum, Ground floor, Seminar Room, In Greenwich

Time:10am-2pm
Price: £15 (£12 members)

London’s river has been the lifeblood of the city since its Roman origins. In this walk and talk we find out how its structures have recorded that long history for us to discover today.

Join the Thames Discovery Programme, looking at causeways, gridirons, wharves and the river wall itself, to get a new perspective of the ever changing history of the city. We will also take in the sites of wrecked vessels and bomb damage from World War 2.

Then head back with us the National Maritime Museum to examine their collections of maps and charts for a birds-eye view on the changing landscape of London’s river.
