MOLA’s expertise was called on to achieve planning permission and Listed Building and Scheduled Monument Consent for the London Wall Place office development. The site is located in an area of known archaeological and built heritage significance in the City of London, and contains a section of Scheduled Roman City Wall, the Roman and medieval city ditch, and a ruined medieval church.

Early risk appraisal highlighted how the scheme would likely impact on local heritage assets. Scheme design progressed taking these assets into account.

Our heritage consultancy covered heritage risk appraisal, desk-based assessment and exploratory excavation, helping the client to develop a cost-effective and efficient scheme design. The commercial office development achieved planning permission, Scheduled Monument Consent for the City wall and Listed Building Consent for the church. The scheme design progressed to incorporate the site’s historic aspects into the space, affording the development a distinct sense of place.
