MOLA was awarded the archaeological consultancy work on the £6m Heritage Lottery Project to restore the Scheduled Ancient Monument Torre Abbey and turn it into a significant visitor attraction.

MOLA's experience in monastic archaeology and heritage management helped Torbay Council to gain Scheduled Monument Consent and Heritage Lottery Funding for the improvements at this important site.

We undertook a programme of small-scale investigations to inform the redesign and provided advice on the implications of archaeology for the restoration of the buildings and grounds. This first stage of work was completed successfully and we prepared the Stage 2 Lottery application for the archaeological work necessary for the restoration and interpretation of the site. Our team worked closely with the landscape architects, conservation architects and Torbay Council.
