As a trainee building materials specialist with MOLA my role includes the assessment and analysis of historic buildings and their component structural materials from the Roman to the Post-Medieval period.
This includes the identification, recording, analysis, interpretation and reporting of ceramic materials (i.e. bricks and tiles), wall plaster and the worked stone recovered from MOLA sites within defined project objectives, budgets and timetable. I have a particular interest in worked stone and wish to develop this skill set further.
Prior to my building material role, I was working as an archaeologist and then Senior Archaeologist within the MOLA field team. As a Senior Archaeologist I was responsible for supervising teams of archaeologists, client liaison and site delivery.
