I took up my role as Chief Executive of MOLA on the 1st of June 2023, with a mission to restructure and renew the organisation after a period of considerable change. I believe that the organisation has a huge role to play in the development of our sector and a responsibility to deliver on our charitable objectives.
My ambition is for MOLA to continue shaping the future of archaeology into the next decade. The archaeology of tomorrow is still waiting for us in the ground. We will seek to pioneer new and innovative ways of uncovering and recording it, undertake further world-leading research projects to better understand it, and develop groundbreaking public programmes to maximise archaeology's potential to deliver life-changing impacts.
I began my career in archaeology studying at the Institute of Archaeology (University College London), before working on archaeological excavations around the world. I started working for Lawson Price in 1999 where I worked for a short time before I founded L - P : Archaeology.
As one of the founding partners, I had a key role in setting the strategic vision and direction of the company and was lucky enough to run some of our most interesting projects. With my Partners we grew LP to a unit of over 100 archaeologists. L - P : Archaeology was acquired by MOLA in June 2022 and I joined as Director of Infrastructure, before becoming CEO in May 2023.
MOLA has a long heritage and a global reach and I am looking forward to making my own small contribution to this fantastic story.
I am a full corporate member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA). I am on the Board of the Federation of Archaeological Managers and Employers (FAME). I am a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA).
