As an archaeobotanist, I am responsible for the assessment and full analysis of charred, waterlogged, mineralised, and desiccated plant macrofossils such as seeds, fruit, and nuts. I have over 25 years experience as an archaeobotanist in the UK commercial archaeology and research sector. I have experience working on material from across the UK, as well as Denmark, France, Egypt, Republic of Ireland, Syria and Tunisia.
I am a long-standing member and former secretary of the Association for Environmental Archaeology, as well as a member of the Archaeobotany Workgroup. I hold an Honorary Research Fellowship in the Department of Classics, Ancient History & Archaeology at The University of Birmingham. I regularly peer review manuscripts for publication and participate in various working groups, including the Development Working Group for Archaeobotany Module OASIS+ and the Ethics in Archaeobotany Survey.
My research interests include alternatives to wood fuels, reconstruction of past vegetation, and archaeobotanical methodology.
