Archaeology Cafe at The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine's Community Hub
Looking for something to entertain the whole family this October half-term?
For one day only we’re bringing the fascinating history of Wapping to life at The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine's Community Hub (next to the Yurt Cafe) with finds and discoveries from our recent excavations in the area.
Thursday 30th October 12-5pm
There’s something for all the family! Have a go at:
- Identifying our mystery find from recent excavations in the area
- Taking part in some Victorian schoolyard games
- Becoming a time detective digging into Wapping’s past
MOLA has been carrying out excavations at SEGRO Park Wapping, ahead of the proposed development.
Let’s Talk Thames!
We’ll also be joined by a member of our team working on a project to improve safe access to the Thames foreshore, helping more people connect with these remarkable places.
The steps, stairs, causeways, jetties, and piers along the Thames are more than historic features, they’re living links to London’s past, when the river was the city’s lifeline for commerce, travel, and daily life.
Did you know that simply being near water can boost your wellbeing? The idea of “Blue Mind,” coined by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, highlights the mental health benefits of rivers, lakes, and seas, from reducing stress to improving mood.
Come and speak to us! Share your memories, ideas, and hopes for the future of Thames foreshore access.
