I have been a Senior Archaeologist / Project Officer with MOLA since 1995. From 2007 I have specialised in the archaeology of London’s Early Modern theatres. This includes leading excavations on the sites of the Theatre and the Curtain playhouse in Shoreditch, two of London’s earliest playhouses where Shakespeare performed in the 1590s, and the excavation of the Boar’s Head playhouse in Whitechapel.

I have worked with design teams and consortium partners to help develop their plans for public exhibition and performance spaces and continue to forge interdisciplinary research opportunities with results of excavations being used in more creative ways.

I have been a member of the advisory boards for the AHRC funded Before Shakespeare project exploring why public playhouses came to open in London in the 16th century, and the AHRC funded Box Office Bears project researching animal baiting in Early Modern England.
