Kenley Airfield

Festival of Archaeology: Kenley Revival community dig and open day

15.07.2019 to 25.07.2019

Kenley Aerodrome, Surrey, CR8 5ES

Time: Multiple times (dig hours will be 10am-4pm)

Price: Free

We'll be back at Kenley Airfield this summer conducting an excavation with a team of enthusiastic volunteers to uncover the hidden secrets of the airfield, which is the most intact fighter airfield from World War 2 and played a key part in the Battle of Britain.

Our archaeolgists will record the site and visitors to Kenley Common will be able to visit the dig whilst the team is at work. Last year, gunning placements, foundations of huts were uncovered and blast pen structures were investigated and we hope that this year will be just as exciting.

Kenley Common, where the airfield is based, is open to the public for free 7 days a week and it's possible to see the dig on these days - plan your visit here. Alongside the dig, there is a planned open day and guided tours of the area on 20th July. To book your place on the guided tours, please use Eventbrite.
