Our new Chief Executive
We are delighted to announce Guy Hunt has been appointed our new Chief Executive. Guy was a founding partner of L – P : Archaeology, and subsequently joined MOLA following its acquisition in summer 2022.
Guy studied archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL. After graduating, he worked briefly for Lawson Price before co-founding L – P : Archaeology in 1999.
He brings a wealth of experience of the sector, having worked at all levels within both archaeological field work and project management since L – P was established in 1999. This has included notable sites both in London and further afield such as Prescot Street, 100 Minories, and St Mary’s Stoke Mandeville (HS2).
"In the short time I've been at MOLA, I've seen first hand the depth of knowledge and breadth of skills across the organisation. I'm really honoured to be taking up this role to help amplify and enable the brilliant work of my colleagues. In a changing world, we need to continue to evolve and improve to ensure our continuing excellence in archaeological practice - in the field, in research and in public engagement." - Guy Hunt
Guy’s appointment follows a rigorous and open application and interview process, which included consultations with our Trustees, senior management and staff representatives. He consequently starts his new role with the support of colleagues from across our organisation.
Guy will officially be in post from 1 June, taking the reins from our current Interim CEO, Steve Parry, who will be retiring in the Autumn following many dedicated years of service.
